This Is Important, You Should Watch It of the Day: The Pence Amendment to strip Planned Parenthood of all federal funding — which Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) has been peddling for some time now like it’s the most important thing on the docket — has come around again, but hopefully was shut down for good by a moving speech delivered on the House floor by Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA).
Following a slew of graphic abortion experience descriptions from a man (GOP Rep. Chris Smith of NJ), Rep. Speier revealed that she was “one of those women [Rep. Smith] spoke about just now.”
“I lost the baby,” Speier went on to say. “And for you to stand on this floor and suggest that somehow this is a procedure that is either welcomed or done cavalierly or done without any thought, is preposterous.”
(For the record, none of the taxpayer dollars Planned Parenthood receives through the Title X Family Planning program (fractions of a penny per taxpayer) go to fund abortions, and the abortions performed by Planned Parenthood account for less than 5% of all patient services rendered, according to the latest annual report.)

excellent
I’m Pro Choice. Men shouldn’t even be making decisions about this. Or more specifically, white, wealthy, catholic men who were voted into the House to fix our country, not preach their own personal beliefs, shouldn’t be making these decisions. Will they ever experience pregnancy? No. Will ever they have to go through this? No. Then why does it fucking matter?! If you don’t like it, then you don’t have to have one. But don’t try and take away that right from someone else. Roe v. Wade already occurred and will NEVER be overturned. Once a Supreme Case decision has been made, it stands.
And just for the record, during the period of pregnancy abortions are preformed, the fetus is unable to survive outside the body. Can it breathe on it’s own? No, it doesn’t have fully developed lungs yet. Can it feed itself? Nope. Therefore, it ISN’T LIVING, so abortions aren’t “killing babies”. Pro life is the most ridiculous bias ever thought of. Sorry if you disagree, but this is my opinion.
Oh, and in the long run, not allowing abortions ends up costing the country more money anyways. Unwanted pregnancies lead to unwanted children, which leads to another child being placed in the system, which ultimately costs the taxpayers more money. So for the Republicans/Tea Party members who complain about taxes and needing to make cuts from programs: if you eliminate Planned Parenthood, you’ll end up paying more. Pick your fucking battle.
Thank God it was turned down. I feel like I ranted enough.
